In that post, I made a passing reference to John Bolton's recent escape from a citizen's arrest. Over at AfterDowningStreet, there's a handy essay up on How to Make a Citizen's Arrest of a War Criminal. Here's the thing to keep in mind - the element of surprise is crucial. While announcing the effort ahead of time might make for good theatre, if one actually wants to succeed, it's best for the potential arrestee (and whatever hired thugs might be nearby) to be blindsided. Included is a list of war criminals who definitely deserve to be arrested, as well as a very detailed list of dos and don'ts.
