Another fine tradition

It's that time again: with the Olympics about to start, the hosting government begins its crackdown on dissent. A tip of the sombrero to my man Nezua for the link, and who by the way reminds his readers of another violent Olympics crackdown 40 years ago in Mexico City - one that was aimed at silencing student pro-democracy protesters and which led to a massacre of genocidal proportions. Of course we can count on our governing elites to make furious denouncements of the host country's human rights record, while at the same time giving a wink and a nod to whatever torture, disappearances, and deaths might occur.
