Something tells me

that enough of the corporate CEO class feels sufficiently comfortable with Obama that they'll dismiss tactics they would have accepted in previous election cycles. The recent WSJ columnist who wrote a really nice piece on Bill Ayers, which disses McCain's efforts to brand him as a "known terrorist" as just another version of "waving the bloody shirt" is merely one exemplar. The corporate rulers seem to be jonesing for what they perceive as a competent manager of empire, after determining that the last several years of culture wars and holy crusades have not been good for business.

Said it before and will say it again - as an independent I can find plenty objectionable about both of the ruling parties' candidates without having to resort to dreck from either the distant past or from the urban legend mill.
