A fascinating year for music

The Allmusic Blog takes on the year 1971. It's fun to peruse the lists of albums and singles released that year - the bulk of which I am familiar. I noticed that some of my personal faves, such as Alice Coltrane's gorgeous Journey in Satchidananda, Miles Davis' Jack Johnson soundtrack, and Gil Scott-Heron's Piece of a Man get mentioned. Of course Led Zep's fourth album is there, as was Sly & The Family Stone's There's a Riot Going On, and Jethro Tull's classic Aqualung. I was a little surprised that Pharoah Sanders releases from that year didn't merit a mention.
